I was featured in my employer's newsletter (that gets sent to thousands of clients) along with 11 others who demonstrate leadership skills despite not having a formal leadership position as well as being marked the next generation of leaders. (All those words are from my employer, not mine.)
Because of this recognition, we were offered to attend a Twins game with a guest in a suite.
My guest was M and on Friday, June 29th, we went to see the Twins play the Kansas City Royals. The suite was on the third base side so we had a great view of the skyline. It was very hot that day and no wind came into seats to cool us off but we could go inside the suite and sit in the air conditioning as well. They had ordered food for us so there were hot dogs and turkey/pork sandwiches (there was a debate as to whether it was turkey or pork), pasta salad, snacks and a nacho bar. We also had a stocked fridge of pop, water, mixes and beer.
Of the 11 that were featured, only 7 (and their guest) came so it was a perfect sized group. I had never been in a suite before. (except when touring Target Field at my employer holiday party as well as going to the open house) The suite ticket also allows access to the Legend's Club so went down to that level and walked around as well. We stopped to stand at a table and Tony Oliva walked by so I said, "Hi Tony!" and he just smiled and walked by.
The Twins had a nice rally in the 9th but they came up short, losing 4-3. They did end up winning the rest of the games in the series that weekend though.
