Twins (suck) vs. Blue Jays

The last thing we really wanted to do last Saturday afternoon was to go see the Twins play.  I don't even mind that they suck...I can handle that but the weather was so gross that it was hard to drag ourselves to sit out in a rainy mist with temperatures not even reaching 50 degrees.  We did it though and the Twins still suck.  It was tied 3-3 after the 9th and in the 11th inning, the Blue Jays got 6 runs!  The final score was 9-3.  We did leave at 7-3 so we didn't put ourselves through the torture of seeing them score an additional two runs.

Mother's Day

Just a quick little post about Mother's Day last weekend.  The day was low-key and both my sister and her family and I went over to my parent's house just to hang out for a little while.  Jamie and her boys went to have their pictures taken earlier in the day and they were all so cute with the their coordinating colors.  I hope all you moms had a great day.  

Motorcycle Saturday

This past Saturday I woke up with the intentions of going to work since I'm so very busy but found it that I couldn't work because the parking lot was being swept and there was no access to the building. We then thought about hooking our bicycles up to the car and riding the Gateway Trail but then we decided that we must be lazy to take the motorcycle out and go to breakfast instead.  Our short trip on the motorcycle ended up being a 100+ mile ride all day.  The weather was nice and it's one of the first weekends to have been able to take advantage of riding the bike. We started at our house in Little Canada, went through St. Paul, Mendota Heights and stopped at Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis.  We headed downtown to First Avenue to return a pair of concert tickets (one of the band members died and they cancelled the show) and then headed out to Plymouth to stop at a wine shop that M's friend owns.  After the purchase of a bottle of wine and a rare beer, we hopped back on and went south until we hit Wayzata and stopped at Ben & Jerry's for ice cream and to sit on a bench overlooking one of the bays of Lake Minnetonka.  We continued through many cities and bays of Lake Minnetonka including Orono, Minnetonka Beach, Tonka Bay, Shorewood, Excelsior, Minnetonka and back through Hopkins, St. Louis Park and Minneapolis to make our way back home.  We stopped at Maynard's in Excelsior to relax on their famous patio for a drink right on the water.  We also got sunburned from being on the bike that long.  There were many areas in the ride that I'd never been to before.  We drove into a beautiful neighborhood in Wayzata with massive houses.  Some of the houses were for sale and so we looked them up later and they are selling for $4-6 million.  I wish. It was a great day!

Huge breakfast that we couldn't take the rest with us since we were on the bike...that pancake is massive and it's only $2.60.  Dad, I want to take you here for breakfast for Father's Day. Not because it's cheap, but because of the portions size and you'll be able to eat every morsel. I hate that word. Oh, and because I love you too!

Scotch Doubles

M and I met up with a bunch of friends and family for a bowling night of Scotch Doubles.  We had never played before and it was interesting, confusing and fun all at the same time.  Scotch Doubles is when you share a lane with a total of four people and then you play six games.  The girls throw the first ball for games 1, 3 and 5.  The guy throws the second ball to clean up the frame for that game.  If the girl knocks down 9 pins on the first throw, it's considered a strike.  The same rules apply but the girls and boys are switched for games 2, 4 and 6.  You pay $24 a couple and then you can win money for coming in 1st, 2nd or 3rd and then there are two random prize winners and $5 for the team that comes in last.  We were ranked #15 out of 21 couples.  One of the teams in our group won one of the random prizes of $10 and then Greg and Anna won $5 for coming in last place. :)

Walk for Animals Recap

The Walk for Animals took place last Saturday, April 30th.  We woke up to less than perfect weather.  It was windy and rainy and it wouldn't be as fun walking the five miles as it would have been in warm and sunny weather but we raised money and collected money from people like you and so it was our obligation to you and the animals. We met up with our friends Tanya and Chris and their dog Cosmo at the Golden Valley Humane Society.  It was Tanya's first walk and Chris and Cosmo walked with us last year.  Tanya is preggo, somewhere around 32 weeks but she made it the whole way.  Cosmo, the English Bulldog also made it the whole way for her first time and bulldogs are not known for their endurance.  The rain deterred about half of the people that normally participate but there were still 5,000 of us that showed up for support.

I ended up raising $240 thanks to all of the following kind peeps:

Who Still Wants To Hear About Easter?

I'll make this post short and sweet since it's about Easter and that seems like a long time ago already.  I went over to my aunt and uncle's house in Somerset, Wisconsin for Easter. There was one big thing missing from our day....Gramma. This was the first holiday since my Gramma passed away.  It was different without her being there but we have no choice but to continue on.  My Grandpa had a moment of silence for her and spoke a few words which led to many of us getting choked up.  On to happier notes of the day, it was sunny and kind of warm and it really seemed like spring.  I made Easter chocolates again and made cupcakes with all different layers of pastel colors for the batter.  Enjoy the pictures.

Dinner and Breakfast- In that order

As always, I'm behind on my blog.  I went out to dinner recently with my friend Heather.  We went to Good Earth to eat.  I hadn't been there for probably 7-9 years and I was having a craving for the only thing I've ever eaten there, a Chicken Thai Wrap.  That's what I ordered along with the best dinner salad I've ever had.  I wish all dinner salads came like this.  I didn't get any pictures of Heather and I because I was going to take one outside but it was raining.  

The following Saturday M and I meet Greg and Anna for breakfast at 8:30 am at the Seward Cafe in Minneapolis.  They do not allow cells phones while you are there which is awesome that you don't hear any ringing phones or the person next to you talking loudly on their phone.  At the Seward Cafe, you seat yourself, write your order on a piece of paper and bring it up to the cashier and pay and they give it the kitchen.  When your food is ready, they call your name and you pick it up at the kitchen window.  

After breakfast, we walked a block into one of my favorite areas of Minneapolis....Milwaukee Avenue.  We walked up and down admiring the houses before separating.  Again I didn't take any pictures of the four of us.  M and I did stop at Franklin Street Bakery afterwards to pick up a cupcake for each of us.
