James Morrison

Last Thursday, M and I and Chris and Tanya went out to dinner at Cossetta's in St. Paul before heading over to the Fitzgerald Theater to see James Morrison.

Tanya and I were a little bit more excited to see James Morrison than the guys were.  We sat up in the double balcony, first row center, but the theater is pretty small so our seats weren't bad at all, except we had to sit all proper in order to see over the railing.  Horrible placement of that railing!

A band called HoneyHoney opened the show and they were alright.  Bluesy, folksy, bluegrassy-type band.

The audience was comprised mostly of females and a sprinkling of men here and there so when James Morrison came out the girls in the crowd went nuts.  If you haven't heard James Morrison's voice, one might think he was black, but instead he's just a British white guy who kept lovingly referring to us as "Minneapolis" even though we were in the heart of St. Paul.

His voice was awesome, his energy was awesome and he was even a little bit funny at times.  At one point he said that all the guys in the audience are probably wondering why they are even here and then he pretended to be a girl and said, "Because James Morrison is SO emotional."  He got a good laugh from the crowd.

Here are my two favorite James Morrison songs on the new album.  Please sit through the 30 second ad to listen to it!  His Michael Jackson influences come through on this song and if you know who Jessie J is, she's on the second video.  It's such a powerful and emotional duet. :)
