Are You Ready For Some Football?

It's here!  Football season officially starts Thursday and what better way to start than with my team, the Minnesota Vikings.  M and I have already started our football season with two preseason games and tailgating under our belt.

Saturday, August 28th:

We got out to our normal parking spot around 3:30 pm.  The temperature in the upper 80's and breezy.  We hung out with my friend Kristen and her husband Jeremy and Loren and his girlfriend Michelle joined up with us later.  Vikings 24  Seattle 13

Thursday, September 2nd:

We again arrived at our normal tailgating spot around 3:30 pm.  There was big talk of traffic issues since it would be the first time that both the Vikings and the Twins started their games concurrently.  With Target Field a mile down the road, we didn't experience any abnormal traffic issues, especially since we were in downtown early enough.  We had a group of 12 people at one point but I was bad and didn't take many pictures.  The weather was weird.  It was sunny one minute and then cloudy the next.  We all of a sudden heard thunder and some big raindrops started but they were scattered.  All at once, it started to pour like crazy for about 5 minutes and then it was done.  Just enough for everything to be completely soaked.  I hopped into the car so I barely got wet but M decided to stay out in the rain.  After the rain, a very beautiful full-on rainbow appeared and not only one rainbow but a double rainbow!  What does it mean?  If you aren't understanding the references, (full-on, double rainbow, what does it mean?) you NEED to watch this video.  Watch it until the complete end.

Check out the clouds in the 2nd picture.  It's hard to see but you can see the double rainbow in the 2nd rainbow picture.

The traffic wasn't bad getting out the dome, even though it should have been with the Twins traffic.  After we got home, we realized that the Twins game was still going on so no wonder traffic wasn't unusually bad.  The Twins lost in the 13th inning but we saw another Vikings win.  Vikings 31  Denver 24

I know preseason means nothing but we've seen 10 wins in a row at home including preseason and have seen 14 wins of the last 15 games at the dome, with that one loss being our last preseason game of 2009.

Here's to an exciting Vikings season with healthy players! (we've got plenty of banged up ones already)

If you're looking to come to a game this year and want to tailgate with us, let me know!  If you have no plans of going to a game but want to, I suggest you come out on Sunday, September 26th for the 4th Annual Cherrie Jones Tailgate Party.  We will be full effect that day so if you haven't already discussed with Michael getting tickets for you, please check Stubhub, Ebay or Craigslist for tickets and come meet us for tons of fun. If you are interested in Michael getting tickets on your behalf, it's been difficult to get them this year, especially in larger groups, but he can do it for you if you can't do it on your own.  He's working hard almost every single night scoping out tickets and buying them to make it the best experience for everyone. We're excited that we have some new faces that will be there this year and many repeat friends too!
